Day 71

Blown-Out and Silk Dyed Eggs

Keep seeing this idea pop-up on the internet so I gave it a try!!

Part 1:  Blown-Out Eggs
For this part you are going to need:
-eggs
-a push pin
-paper clip
-syringe or bulb syringe

Gather supplies and soak eggs in warm water for 10 mins.

Use push pin to gently poke holes in both ends of the egg.
Then straighten out the paper clip and use it to "scramble" the
egg.  Now the hard part, removing the egg.  I held the egg with
one of the holes facing downwards and put the syringe over the hole
drawing the end back to pull the egg into the syringe...this takes some
time.  Then when I felt I had removed all of the egg, I filled the syringe
with water and put the water in the egg to wash out the inside (I did this a few times
till the water came out clear)

Now onto Part Two!!

Part Two:  Silk Dyed Eggs
Your going to need:
-the eggs from part one
-100% silk fabric
-plain white fabric
-vinegar
-twisty ties

Gather Supplies

Wrap eggs in silk and secure with twisty tie.

Wrap the eggs with the white fabric and secure with twisty tie.

Fill a pot with water and 1/4 cup vinegar.  To keep the eggs
from floating I put them in mason jars before putting
them in the pot.

Bring to a boil and boil for 20mins.

Unwrap to see what awesome design has transferred to the egg! :)
